Lane Closure on County Line Road, West of Pear Orchard Road

Until approximately 6 p.m., traffic is being diverted onto Pear Orchard Road for west bound vehicles traveling on East County Line Road. Entergy will be working in the area to repair a hazardous electrical pole. Ridgeland Police Officers will be directing traffic at the intersection and keeping the west bound lane closed for your safety. From Pear Orchard Road, follow detour signs to turn left onto Northpark Drive, then left onto Ring Road, looping back to East County Line Road. Please be alert and careful. See accompanying map of the area.

Renaissance at Colony Park Phase 3 Plans Available for Viewing

Site Development Plans were recently submitted by developers, Renaissance Phase III, LLC and Costco Wholesale Corporation, for Renaissance at Colony Park Phase 3 located on Highland Colony Parkway.  The plans include Costco as the anchor tenant of the proposed retail development. Plans are available for viewing at City Hall in the Board Room. City Hall is located at 304 Highway 51 at the intersection with Lake Harbour Drive in Ridgeland. Plans may be viewed during business hours, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Architectural Review Board of the City of Ridgeland approved the plans at a meeting on May 24. The Board of Aldermen will be considering the plans at the upcoming Work Session and Board Meeting on June 6 and 7.

City of Ridgeland’s Tim Taylor Recognized for Pat Fordice Award

Tim Taylor, Senior Crew Leader, Ridgeland Recreation and Parks, was recognized at a recent Mayor and Board of Aldermen Meeting for winning the Keep Mississippi Beautiful Pat Fordice Award. The Pat Fordice Award honors a leader in beautification, recycling, and litter cleanup in Mississippi. This award is given in honor of the former First Lady who was a dedicated supporter of Keep Mississippi Beautiful.

Tasers Donated by Barnett’s Body Shop

Barnett’s Body Shop, a Ridgeland Chamber of Commerce member, donated $5,000 for the purchase of five tasers for the Ridgeland Police Department during Madison County Law Enforcement Appreciation Week. Ridgeland Public Works Wins First Place Local Government for Environmental Leadership

The Ridgeland Public Works Department was recognized at a recent Mayor and Board of Aldermen meeting for winning First Place Local Government at the Keep Mississippi Beautiful annual meeting. Eligible applicants for a Keep Mississippi Beautiful Organization Award must show successful results in one of the following environmental leadership areas: litter prevention and cleanup, beautification and community improvement, and finally waste reduction and recycling. Road Closure on Wheatley Street

This is notice that the City of Ridgeland will be closing a section of Wheatley Street, between Nolan Circle and Ford Street, for 3 days beginning on Monday morning, May 16, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. and lasting until Wednesday evening, May 18, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. This section of Wheatley Street is being closed as a safety measure while the City’s Contractor installs new sanitary sewer lines and manholes under Wheatley Street. The detour route will be properly signed along School Street, Highway 51, Ford Street and Wheatley Street.

Residents between Ford Street and Boyd Street will be allowed an opening between the barricades to access their residences.  The excavation work will only occur north of Boyd Street. We apologize for any inconvenience and extended commute times to your homes.

Safety Priority Award

The Ridgeland Public Works Department was recently presented with a Safety Priority Award by Atmos Energy Corporation and the Mississippi Damage Prevention Council in recognition of keeping the public safe by calling 811 before excavating on private and public property. The City of Ridgeland is one of the Top 10 Cities for 2016 in the MS 811 National Safe Digging campaign.

May Proclaimed Bicycle Safety Month

The City of Ridgeland has joined with the Tri-County Mountain Bike Association, Bikewalk Mississippi, Crooked Letter Cycling and Jackson Metro Cyclists in declaring May to be Bicycle Safety Month. Bicyclists of all ages throughout the City of Ridgeland, the State of Mississippi and the nation will be promoting bicycling as an environmentally-friendly alternative to the automobile and a wholesome leisurely activity during the month of May. Residents are urged as motorists or bicyclists to respect cycling and encourage safety throughout our community.

Heatwave Classic Triathlon

On Saturday, June 4th, Ridgeland Recreation & Parks will host the 31st annual Heatwave Classic Triathlon. Some of the finest athletes from the Southeastern United States will converge on Ridgeland, Mississippi to compete in the triathlon, an event sanctioned by the U.S.A. Triathlon. Participants return each year because they love the race course.

This year’s race will consist of a ½ mile swim in the Ross Barnett Reservoir, a 24 ½ mile bike ride along the scenic and historic Natchez Trace Parkway, and ending with a 10K run along Ridgeland’s heavily shaded Multi-Purpose Trail. Participants may register online at www.active.com.
