The Township at Colony Park is a planned mixed-use community situated on a 95-acre tract along Highland Colony Parkway at Steed Road.

The Community Development Department has undergone many changes since its creation in 1998. The City’s growth has brought about the need for greater emphasis on comprehensive planning and code enforcement to ensure a high quality of life. The primary purpose of the Community Development Department is to assist in the positive development of the City of Ridgeland with a commitment to enhancing quality of life through its four different divisions: codes and enforcement, building permits and inspections, planning and zoning, and economic development.

Ridgeland is preparing to launch a citywide Master Plan project based on the City’s vision for future land uses and determined growth areas. The City’s Master Plan will guide economic development of the type, nature, and location that is best suited to the City’s goals. The Master Plan will be effective in balancing our residential and commercial development, establishing a unified vision of the community, encouraging our regional economic development niche, suggesting numerous quality of life projects, and providing an implementation strategy.

During the Master Planning process, the Community Development Department has collaborated with the community in exploring our history and culture, understanding our natural assets, establishing our plan for growth, and unleashing Ridgeland to be the best. We continue to work together in ratifying our vision for the future and how the city can and will achieve that vision.
