First Aid Kits Donated to Highland Elementary in Ridgeland

The Ridgeland Fire Department and Pafford EMS partnered with the Highland Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) to provide 40 first aid kits, enough for each classroom and resource room at Highland Elementary School, serving students in grades 3-5 in the Ridgeland attendance zone of Madison County Schools. Pafford EMS donated the kits that include first aid essentials, making it possible for medical needs to be treated immediately in the classroom or resource room.

“Our EMTs and Paramedics serve the 620 students and the staff at this school, so we were pleased to help coordinate this effort,” stated Ridgeland Fire Department training officer Nathan Bell. “Stocking each room with a first aid kit will make it possible for certain injuries or medical situations to be addressed more quickly. In the case of a minor condition, some students may not even need to leave the classroom.”

Highland Elementary PTO President Lazaire Martin said, “We want to thank Pafford EMS for the generous donation and for being a community partner. We are so appreciative of Pafford and the Ridgeland Fire Department for working with us to bring first aid kits to the school.”

“As parents, our children may become ill or get an injury when they are at school, and we wish we could be there to help,” added Martin. “It is a comfort to the PTO and parents of Highland students that first aid kits are now available in the classrooms.”
