Mississippi Fire Chiefs Association Conference Benefits Municipalities

As the host organization, the Ridgeland Fire Department has planned three days of sessions and activities for the Mississippi Fire Chiefs Mid-Winter Conference. The Conference will be held at Embassy Suites in Ridgeland January 11-13, 2017. Approximately 131 fire chiefs from throughout the state have registered including participation in a Legislative Day at the Capitol on Thursday, followed by a Legislative Reception.

Ridgeland Fire Chief Matt Bailey said, “The City of Ridgeland is honored to be the host for the mid-winter conference for the third consecutive year. We are pleased to put on a high quality conference for the association. We feel that Ridgeland is chosen as the host location because of our excellent hotel and conference facilities coupled with a convenient location in the metro area for dining and shopping.” Bailey notes that this year’s conference is seeing a record number of chiefs attending.

“The mid-winter conference benefits the citizens of the towns, cities and counties of Mississippi. It is a working session where chiefs receive education and training that can translate into enhanced public safety in their communities. Also, the importance of the legislative day cannot be understated as the chiefs will have the opportunity to express their needs for medical and fire service to the state legislature,” said Bailey.

Session presentations will be provided by representatives from regional and international fire chiefs associations. Vendors in fire service will exhibit the latest developments in public safety equipment.
