Ridgeland Recreation & Parks Department Presented The MRPA Special Event Award of Merit For 2005

At the Annual Mississippi Recreation & Parks Association Awards Banquet, held in Natchez in October, the Ridgeland Recreation & Parks Department was presented with the MRPA Special Event Award of Merit for 2005. The award is given annually by the MRPA in recognition of the outstanding special event programming. Ridgeland Recreation & Parks received their award for their Heatwave Classic Triathlon. The event annually draws more than 400 participants who swim 1⁄2 mile in the Ross Barnett Reservoir, bike 24 1⁄2 miles on the Natchez Trace Parkway, and run 10K (6.2 miles) on the city's multi-use trail.
