Beginner/Low Impact Choreorobics

Ridgeland Recreation and Parks is offering a great dance class for you! This program teaches you to dance to the best music of the 70’s, 90’s, and today! Learn original routines with a step-by-step, easy-to-follow instruction method. Our professional choreographer and instructor is Roger Leonard Long, and his dance partner/wife, Tena. You will enjoy not only a fun cardio-workout, but also learn steps you can take to the dance floor!

Beginning Conversational Spanish Class

¿Habla Vd. Español? You will be able to if you participate in our (Beginning) Conversational Spanish class. Our class is excellent for someone preparing to visit a Spanish speaking country or someone wanting to learn to speak a second language.

Dr. Mary Wasson is our instructor. She is a certified instructor with many years of teaching experience in high school and college level. She will also provide you with information on the Spanish culture, for she has lived in many Spanish-speaking countries.

Bridge

Bridge games are held the fourth Thursday of each month at the Ridgeland Recreational Center overlooking the reservoir. It provides a beautiful setting for an afternoon game. The player with the highest score for the month receives a prize. Reservations are required 4 days in advance.

Please call Lynda at 601-856-6876 or 601-853-2011 to reserve your chair. Please arrive at 12:45 p.m. to receive your nametag. Game starts promptly at 1:00 p.m.

Chicken-Foot Dominos

Join us on the third Thursday of each month for a friendly game of Dominos. Chicken-foot is easy to play and you’ll enjoy the company of the friendliest players around. Whether you are an experienced player or learning how, all are welcome to attend.

Chicken-foot Dominos is open to anyone over the age of 50. Some of our players enjoy bringing their favorite snack foods to the game. Snacks are optional.

Friendship Bible Coffees

The Friendship Bible Coffee is a verse-by-verse study of God’s Word. Individuals from various backgrounds are welcome. This study will help you apply Biblical truths to every day life. All classes will begin promptly at 10:00 am and dismiss at 11:30 am.

Grow Stronger, Live Younger

Individualized attention from a qualified personal trainer will help you become stronger and healthier. Typical personal training rates can be expensive. This class is a real bargain at only $5 per person/per class!

If you want to improve your health, develop strength, improve flexibility and learn about healthy nutrition, then this is the class for you! Make profound and lasting changes in the way you work, feel, and move on a daily basis. Each participant will enjoy a good workout and will receive plenty of information on health and nutrition. For anyone who has had injuries or is experiencing health problems, this class will provide safe modifications for all participants.

Oil Painting

Do you want to learn to paint? Oil Painting classes are being offered at the Ridgeland Recreational Center each Wednesday. Linda Dees, an experienced art teacher, will instruct the class. Class is held from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. The fee is $35 a month and you should bring your own supplies..

Ridgeland Quilters

Don’t you just ‘love’ a handmade quilt? Quilts become family heirlooms and special gifts of significance. The Ridgeland Quilters wants you to join them, whether you are just learning or an experienced quilter. Come and share sewing tips, project ideas, and quilting work.

Ridgeland Quilters meet on the third Monday of each month. We love to see any quilts you have completed. Bring your work for “show and tell,” and please bring any projects you are currently working on, needles, material, patterns, etc.

Spanish With James

Yoga

Join us every Monday and Friday for Yoga! Lisa Newman is the instructor, and she will guide you through gentle stretching exercises for your whole body. Tight muscles can cause discomfort and even contribute to injuries, and taking the time for a few gentle stretching exercises can also help with stress reduction and aid in relaxation.
