Ridgeland Earns 24th Consecutive Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting

Ridgeland earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 24th consecutive year for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the Fiscal Year ended September 30, 2015. The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to the City of Ridgeland by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2015.  As stated in a press release by GFOA, “The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.”

The City of Ridgeland has received this award for 24 consecutive years. Also stated in the GFOA press release,“The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.”

“Our staff produces a financial report every year that meets the highest standards of excellence,” said Gene McGee, Mayor of Ridgeland. “We are excited to be presented with this award from GFOA, and we are especially proud to have achieved this recognition for 24 consecutive years.”

The public is invited to read a copy of the CAFR.
