Every year, used Christmas trees are recycled into mulch at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland.

The Ridgeland Recreation and Parks Department will offer Christmas tree collection and recycling. Natural Christmas trees will be picked up in residential areas Dec. 26, 27, 30, 31 and Jan. 2-10. Trees will be recycled into mulch, and that mulch will be available for pickup at Freedom Ridge Park. Fishermen may pick up trees for fish habitat before the trees are mulched.

If you wish to have your tree picked up, please place your bare tree on the curb. Please do not place your tree in a bag. All lights, ornaments, stands and nails must be removed in order for it to be eligible for collection and recycling.

If you prefer, you may drop your tree off at Freedom Ridge Park located at 235 West School Street. Please follow the signs within the park to the drop off area.

Local fishermen may pick up trees at Freedom Ridge Park starting Dec. 28. Mulch will be available starting Monday, Jan. 13. Some mulch may be available prior to Jan. 13. Call the Recreation and Parks office at 601-853-2011 for details.
