Erick Dampier to serve as Grand Marshal for Ridgeland’s 2014 Tropical Christmas Parade

The City of Ridgeland invites you to enjoy the annual tradition of the Ridgeland Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 6 at 2:00 p.m. This year’s theme “A Tropical Christmas” is sure to be festive.

Erick Dampier will serve as this year’s Grand Marshal. Dampier is a Lawrence County native from New Hebron, Mississippi. He recently retired from the NBA after 17 years. He was a member of the memorable 1996 Mississippi State University Final Four basketball team. He was a 10th lottery pick in 1996 and played his rookie season with the Indiana Pacers. He has also played with the Golden State Warriors (8 yrs), Dallas Mavericks (6 yrs), Miami Heat (1 yr) and Atlanta Hawks (1 yr). Erick now resides in Ridgeland with his wife Yolanda and their 3 children, Alyssa, Erick Jr. and Ayanna.

The parade route will begin at the Holmes Community College Campus located on Ridgeland Avenue. The parade will travel eastbound on Ridgeland Avenue, turn southbound onto Maple Street, turn westbound onto Jackson Street, then northbound onto Sunnybrook Road and finish back at Holmes Community College. West Jackson Street will be closed from Sunnybrook Road to Maple Street during the parade.
