Household Hazardous Waste Day in Ridgeland Planned for May 12

The City of Ridgeland and Keep Ridgeland Beautiful have scheduled a Household Hazardous Waste Day event for Saturday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. The event is hosted by Holmes Community College, located at 412 Ridgeland Avenue. It’s free to residents of the City of Ridgeland and Madison County.

Improper disposal of hazardous wastes can pollute the environment and pose a threat to humans and animals. Left in your home, hazardous items can react, become corrosive or toxic. Most items accepted at this event are recyclable. This event helps you keep your home and community safe and makes it easy to recycle these items.

Residential waste only will be accepted. A list of unacceptable and acceptable items are detailed in the accompanying Household Hazardous Waste Day_Flyer 2018. Please do not bring appliances. Home office equipment is accepted. Please leave chemicals in their original container or clearly identified. Some of the recycling and safe disposal stations available at this year’s event include Shred-It, Magnolia Data Solutions, Interstate Battery, and Care Environmental. This event is made possible by a grant from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
