Mississippi Fire Chiefs Association Conference Planned for Ridgeland

Mid-Winter Conference to Focus on Legislative Issues

As the host organization, the Ridgeland Fire Department has planned three full days of sessions and activities for the Mississippi Fire Chiefs Mid-Winter Conference. The Conference will be held at Embassy Suites in Ridgeland January 19-21, 2015. Approximately 125 fire chiefs from throughout the state have registered including participation in a Legislative Day at the Capitol, followed by a Legislative Reception.

Ridgeland Fire Chief Matt Bailey said, “We are honored to be the host for this year’s mid-winter conference. It is one of only two gathering per year for the Mississippi Fire Chiefs Association and especially significant since we will be addressing issues of interest to our profession with the state Legislature.

Mayor Gene McGee said, “We are excited to share our city with 125 fire chiefs and 20 vendors over 3 days. There’s a lot to offer visitors including extensive dining options and recreational opportunities. They are sure to enjoy themselves here and return to their hometowns speaking highly about Ridgeland, looking to return with family and friends.”

Sessions include Homeland Security training and funding opportunities, fire suppression rating schedule, disaster preparedness, public safety medical challenges and opportunities and reports from the Mississippi Burn Foundation and Burn Camp. Presentations will be provided by representatives from regional and international fire chiefs associations.
