Mayor McGee Appointed to Serve on NLC Public Safety & Crime Prevention Committee
See Full Release Mayor Gene McGee has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2026 Public Safety and Crime Prevention Federal Advocacy Committee. Mayor McGee was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on critical public safety policies facing local governments, including disaster preparedness and recovery, community-oriented policing, violence prevention, emergency communications, and federal grant programs that support local first responders. The appointment was announced by NLC President Kevin Kramer, Councilmember, Louisville, Kentucky.
Mayor McGee shared his appreciation for the appointment, noting, “I am honored to serve in this capacity. Public safety and crime prevention continue to be among the City of Ridgeland’s highest priorities.”
As a member of NLC’s PSCP Committee, Mayor McGee will play a key role in shaping NLC’s federal policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns and villages before Congress, with the President’s Administration and at home in Ridgeland, MS.

This year’s Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee will be led by Chair Mark Myers, Mayor, City of Greenwood, IN and Vice Chairs Rudy Locklear, Councilman, Town of Pembroke, NC, and Lisa Ford, Councilor, City of Broken Arrow, OK.
