Construction Making Steady Progress On Ridgeland’s New Fire Station No. 5
Ridgeland, MS — Work is steadily moving forward on the City of Ridgeland’s newest fire station
and training facility. This major project will strengthen the City’s emergency response
capabilities for years to come. The site, located at 572 North Livingston Road next to the City’s
water tank at the corner of Livingston Road and Walter Payton Lane, is beginning to take shape
as construction milestones continue to be reached.
The station was designed by Dean Architecture and is being built by Benchmark Construction.
Crews have completed several key portions of the project. The pad for the training facility has
been poured, and the structure is now being raised. At the Station No. 5 building site, plumbing
work is underway in preparation for the slab. Gravel has been placed around the building pads
and along the roadway, the entrance drive has been paved with asphalt, and new hydrants
have been installed on the property.
Timeline:
o Training Facility: Expected to be finished around January 2026
o Fire Station No. 5: Projected completion in October 2026
The City will move into and begin operating from the property once both the station and
training facility are fully complete.
Ridgeland’s fifth fire station will provide important coverage for growth areas west and
northwest of Highland Colony and will support emergency response needs tied to the Amazon
Web Services data center and the nearby Entergy substation.
The training facility will give firefighters a dedicated space to sharpen their skills and expand
hands-on training opportunities. Together, these new assets are expected to help improve the
City’s fire rating, which can lead to lower insurance costs for residents and businesses.
This project is funded through a State of Mississippi loan to the Madison County Economic
Development Authority. The loan will be paid through the ad valorem taxes generated
specifically from the AWS project.
“I’m excited about the progress. The new facilities will allow firefighters to deliver stronger
services to the community and enhance the department’s training efforts,” stated Mayor Gene
McGee.
