The City of Ridgeland Joins the National League of Cities Centennial Roadshow

RIDGELAND, MS – The City of Ridgeland is honored to announce its participation as an official stop on the National League of Cities (NLC) Centennial Roadshow: 100 Years, 100 Cities. This initiative is part of NLC’s year-long celebration, marking a century of commitment to advancing local government and advocating for the interests of cities, towns and villages nationwide.

The roadshow, organized by NLC, includes in-person and digital stops to 100 cities in regions of the country, aimed atspotlighting the diversity, resilience, and transformation of America’s local communities.The roadshow kicked off in February at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas, where NLC was founded. Since then, the roadshow has toured cities of all sizes to showcase the unique stories of municipalities like Ridgeland.

“I’ve been a member of the National League of Cities for many years, and it’s incredibly exciting to see Ridgeland highlighted as part of the Centennial Roadshow. I’m so proud of our community and thrilled about this recognition,” stated Mayor Gene McGee.

As part of the roadshow the City of Ridgeland has highlighted the recent unveiling of the Ridgeland History Trail and details regarding Ridgeland’s 125th Anniversary year. Ridgeland unveiled the History Trail on October 1stwith a community and press event showcasing the 22 historical markers.

“It is truly an honor for NLC to spotlight remarkable municipalities, like Ridgeland that have made significant contributions to the advancement of local government over the past 100 years,” said Clarence Anthony, CEO and Executive Director of the National League of Cities. “Cities across the country have played a pivotal role in moving communities forward and has a unique story that showcases transformative change. As we continue to celebrate the advancement of cities over the past 100 years and chart a course for the next 100 years, I am more excited than ever for the future of cities, towns and villages and look forward to continuing the important work I know we will do together.”
