MAYOR GENE MCGEE APPOINTED VICE CHAIR OF NLC’S 2024 PUBLIC SAFETY AND
CRIME PREVENTION FEDERAL ADVOCACY COMMITTEE

RIDGELAND, MISS. – Mayor Gene McGee was recently appointed National League of Cities Vice Chair of the 2024 Public Safety and Crime Prevention (PSCP) Federal Advocacy Committee.

In conjunction with Mayor McGee’s appointment, NLC President David Sander has designated Councilmember Mark Freeman of Mesa, AZ, as the Chair of the PSCP Committee. Additionally, Mayor Dontario Hardy of Kinston, NC, and Mayor Greg Mills of Brighton, CO, have been appointed as fellow Vice Chairs.

Mayor McGee was appointed to the advocacy committee in January of this year. Committee members provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on public safety issues, including law enforcement, municipal fire prevention, natural disaster preparedness, and homeland security. When appointed earlier in the year, McGee stated he was “honored to be appointed to the NLC committee.” “Public safety and crime prevention are top priorities for the City of Ridgeland.” McGee looks forward to continuing his strategic partnership with city leaders across the nation to tackle hard issues that are of the greatest importance.

As a member of NLC’s PSCP committee, Mayor McGee will continue to help shape NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities, towns, and villages before Congress, with the administration, and at home.
