Fire Response

  • Fires in buildings, vehicles, grass, woods, gardens, rubbish, etc.
  • Controlled burns that pose a hazard of spreading
  • Lightning strikes, with or without fire
  • Explosions, with or without fire
  • Unknown source of visible smoke or smoke odor
  • Known source of smoke or odor if an uncontrolled fire may result

Rescue Response

  • Extrication of people trapped in confined spaces resulting from a motor vehicle collision, structural collapse, trench collapse, etc.
  • Rescue of people trapped in high places
  • Rescue of people in water, or in boats or other vehicles in water
  • Rescue of people from locked vehicles, locked structures, or stuck elevators, where life safety is critical
  • Search and rescue for persons lost on land or water

Emergency Medical Response

  • The fire department provides primary care and stabilization for people with any injury or illness requiring immediate medical attention. Pafford Ambulance Service provides secondary care and patient transport to area hospitals. All firefighters are also trained as either EMT’s or paramedics in order to provide high quality Basic Life Support or Advanced Life Support care.

Hazardous Situation Response

  • Hazardous material leaks and spills, including strange odors
  • Electrical hazards, such as power lines down or arcing/shorted electrical equipment
  • Vehicle accidents with leaks, spills, or other hazards
  • Buildings or other structures weakened or collapsed
  • Acts of terrorism, or other man-made disasters
  • Natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and ice storms
