Ridgeland Maintains 36 Plus Years Without Increasing Millage

RIDGELAND, MS — The City of Ridgeland is proud to announce a remarkable milestone: more than 36 consecutive years without an increase in the City’s millage rate. This achievement reflects Ridgeland’s strong financial stewardship, a vibrant and growing business community, and healthy ad valorem revenues that have sustained growth without additional burden on taxpayers.

“It’s exciting to share that Ridgeland has gone this long without raising millage rates,” said Mayor Gene McGee. “This success story results from strategic financial management, economic development, and the unwavering support of our business community and residents.”

Across the nation, rising costs often require local governments to adjust their millage rates to meet operational expenses. Despite these challenges, Ridgeland has kept rates unchanged for over three decades.

Several key areas contribute to this outcome:
-Thriving Business Community: Robust economic growth generates ample sales tax revenue, helping to offset operational expenses.
-Healthy Ad Valorem Revenues: Strong property values continue to stabilize city finances.
-Careful Financial Management & Planning: Careful budgeting, cost-saving initiatives, and efficient resource allocation ensure long-term fiscal health.

The City of Ridgeland remains committed to fostering growth, supporting businesses, and maintaining a high quality of life for residents—all while protecting taxpayers from unnecessary increases.
